YOUTH DAY OF SERVICE

International youth day is an awareness day designated by the United Nations. The purpose of the day is to draw attention to a given set of cultural and legal issues surrounding youth. It also aims to promote ways to engage youths, in becoming more actively involved in making positive contributions to their communities. 

Youth day of service is an integral part of Youth Day. It's  an annual youth led_social impact campaign, with the theme this year hashtag #SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENTGOALS#(SDG) in focus. The campaign aims at showcasing different projects, championed by young people in communities across Nigeria. It is an opportunity to convey young people to action, and activate  youth as Agent of Change  across Africa.

My name is loluafrika, a Renowed writer' and I'm a volunteer for YDoS 2020 (youthdayofservice). I volunteered for the YDOS project campaign centered on sexual education and awareness for teenagers.  #SexualEducationForTeenagers# .In times like this, it's devastating that there's an increasingly alarming rate of sexual violence and assault.

This is why the Sex Education Campaign Team focused on enlightening teenagers on sexual awareness, consent, it's importance, parental negligence and how to voice out..It also focused on helping teenagers adapt associations and views on sexual life which would be in harmony with their own personality making self  emotional and sexual choices. 

Joining the team and working alongside like-minded individuals have exposed and made me fully understand the nitty gritty surrounding Sex Education. Team members curated and created content and graphics on appropriate sex education for teenagers.

As teenager, don't feel pressured to do something.Say NO' with conviction. No one has the right to your body! Ignore threat that you ll die if you voice out. don't be swayed by petty gifts and cash and make your parents  confidant. Let's work in breaking the hush hush culture surrounding sex with teenagers. Let's enlighten  and make them more aware.
